Common Questions

What does the guild do?

The guilds main focus is giving spiritual aid to the land itself and the people in it, providing much needed religious focus and guidance in everyday life as well as major events. In terms of the Empire, it is the Priest Guild’s duty to defend and reinforce the portals that connect the various reaches of the land. The priests are expected to weave the protections around each portal, and keep the portal itself up and running. There are many other tasks though, that the guild members may be responsible for. They can be as simple as taking confession, blessing a new born baby, burying the dead , healing the wounded, feeding the needy to defending the land in times of need, giving songs of glory, hymns of battle to give aid, healing mid combat, cleansing corruption .. so many tasks for a busy group, it is a responsible and also rewarding role to be part of.

Where is the guild situated?
There are many holy places within the land of Empire of Crowns from the deep underdark of Myrlochar with its Lloth temple , to the glades and woodland shrines of nature and Gaia, , the noble temple in the city of Vlorissfarne and many others. The guild itself is centered around the Tower of Temples, which is the headquarters of the guild as well as main the temple for the land.

A tower high in the mountains containing several floors, the lowest level is a room filled to the brim with many shrines for many deities and paths, it is open to all for silent prayer and meditations, tended to by the guild ritualists. The other layers are for guild members and allies or those seeking sanctuary, the second layer is the guilds quarters for sleeping, eating, training, study and socialising and finally the opened aired top layer is the guilds council floor for gatherings of the guild and major rituals.

Do I need to be a cleric or worship any specific God/Goddess?

The answer to this is, simply, no. While there is a major focus within the guild of actual priestly type characters, very few worship the same Deity or Deities. The long answer is that anyone can in theory join as long as you believe and follow something greater then yourself. Most commonly this is a Deity but it can be ancestors, spirits, higher power beings, a personal code of honour , teachings of some monastery, ect.

The guild its self is split into two sides of the same coin, one being the ritualists who are the spiritual side: the priests, druids, shamans, temple workers, nuns, graveyard keeper and other such types. The second side is the Martial section of the guild: Paladin’s, monks, Inquisitors, rangers, fighter priests, flagellates, knights with holy vows, temple guards… the list goes on.

If you can see your character fitting into any one of these roles, or something similar, then the priest guild could be for you! Each branch of the priest guild has ranks within it and characters can slowly work up the ranks all the way to the person in charge of each branch Lord/lady Protector and Arch Ritualist, to sit directly on the council table along with the leader of the priest guild.

Priest Guild Ranks

Ranks are broken into two sides – Ritualists and Protectors – with a single leader overseeing all of them.

To advance within the ranks to either Ritualist or Protector certain time requirements must be met, and deeds completed.. Which vary on which branch the person is advancing in, the top rank of each branch can only have one person at each role and they are chosen by the High Priestess via showing of due diligence, dedication to the guild and following the guilds goals.
